Music From Our Ancestors
What does medicine music have to do with a plant medicine ceremony? AND exciting announcement.
We are thrilled and honored to announce that our dearest brother Juan David Munoz will be joining us for our Aug 13-20th retreat with Taita Juanito, Renata Rocha, Eli Rechtschaffen and the rest of our beloved team. For those of you who don’t know Juan David he is a medicine musician extraordinaire.
When most of in this medicine family think of our lineage and the music which accompanies it we think of Juan David. He is our family beloved musician for a reason. Juan David’s sings direct from his heart and from the true calling of the ancestors. Juan David has been with Taita Juan since they were little kids and this whole time, they have studied the path of Yage.
Juan David is a gentle soul with so much wisdom to share and this comes through the way he holds a ceremony with his music. In this tradition it is the Taita and lead musician who are the key figures guiding our soul’s journey as we take the sacred Yage medicine.
So how does it work with the medicine music in ceremonies and why is it so important? When you drink the medicine, you enter into a very subtle state of consciousness. In this moment there is an opening and here comes a state of alignment with the cosmos, the earth, the spirits, the plant medicines and your heart. All coming together in this moment of prayer.
In this moment we are shown through the many layers of our being what we have been holding on to and what patterns we have been stuck in that have been keeping us bonded in the false belief of separation. This is a very beautiful encounter and it is a time when we want the purest frequency of truth supporting and surrounding us.
You can imagine that you are going into a dark cave and in this place, there may be fear, feelings of shame or perhaps doubts. At times the candle light seems to go out and perhaps we get lost and forget why we have come into this cave in the first place. In this time, we want friends around us who can help us to relight our candle and remind us why we have come down here.
Through the pure form of the medicine music, we are reminded again and again that we have come into this cave to heal child parts of our self, to bring light to the places where we are scared and ultimately to find the truth of our being.
